The cool methodical genius worked away in the shadows. It was always the same, collect what was useful, disregard what was considered waste. There were catalogues and containment tubes filled with organs, some floating in liquid in a state of suspended animation, others convulsed or beat as if connected to their once living host. There had already been two recent aditions to the lab. One strangely enough from each of the two different schools. Nothing was done by chance, all was for the inevitable challenge. That long and grueling battle to finally prove who was worthy.
The first subject was a solitary one so quite easy to obtain, thankfully for this one it's abilities had aided it. Though it wouldn't have been all for nought had it not survived the initial faze. With a complex musculature system and impressive lungs, it was quite worthy of the hunt. He spent quite some time tracking the subject down, becomming aware of the unique animalistic tendencies and senses early on.
The trick with acquiring one such as the subject was to let them think they had you cornered, else they would flee. Thankfully due to a previous modification, He had been able to succesfully achieve a state that would appear dead or close to it. Thus inciting the feline's curiosity, was she dealt with. Though with some slight mishaps on the way. He was pleased to see that an aditional mutation existed that of a slight healing factor, which would suit purposes nicely.
The second of the newest subjects was one of the failures. Once found trapsing around the Morlock tunnels, an indication of previous genetic tampering and a hunting ground for the worst of their kind. However aside from the more obvious traits. There was an ability that held some interest for the master genetisist. Being able to receive frequenting short busrt radio waves, whilst not telepathy was quite handy. It was something that held more interest than simply generating electrical charges that ate away at the subjects energy stores.
After following the youths weekly routine, it was quite easy to make contact and simpler still to acquire the subject. An interesting side note was that this subject refused to scream no matter how extensive procedures were. Perhaps some latent pain blocking abilities were awaiting harvesting. There wasn't anything found that was apparant on the surface layers. However now that the subject was in his care along with the previous mentioned acquisition, he had all the time he needed.
Preparation was key, and within a short period of time he would have cultured the gifts that others had squandered. In the shadows a wicked grin appeared, he took pride in his work and being the supreme master of his craft, could afford to experiment a little. There would be plenty of time later to find other subjects. Ones that he could use to add to his collection.
