Mariusz floated lazily in the air about fifty feet over the calm surface of the lake on the Mansion's property. It was a beautiful day outside and it seemed that most of the other residents of the Mansion were stuck inside working on homework. Mariusz was, happily, free of that burden since he didn't go to Bayville High like most of the rest of the Mansion's residents on account of his physical mutation. And so, clad only in his silver colored swimming trunks, the Polish teen was out and about over the lake, working on his diving form for lack of a better thing to do. He'd left his sunglasses and towel down on the docks. "There is one nice thing about being feathered... no sunscreen," Mariusz muttered to himself. A second later he tucked his wings in close to his body and dove from fifty feet straight down out of the sky and into the water in a graceful looking dive.

Jay, per usual, had spent his day writing songs, practicing his guitar and singing, in solitude. He hadn't decided if indeed he would be going to Bayville yet, and if he were to he'd have to wait till the beginning of the new quarter. Thus, as far as Jay knew, he was the only student remaining in the mansion on week days. A bright flash of white caught the red winged mutants eye. It was too bright and quick a flash to be from the sun or a camera, so Jay got up to investigate. To his amazement, there was yet ANOTHER winged mutant at the institute, albeit he was feathered ALL over, but still winged none-the-less.
This almost made Jay jump like a child in a candy store from excitement. He hadn't really met anyone else with wings yet (that Warren fella was hard to find). Jar opened his windows and lept from his room, flying closer to watch what the mutant was going to do next. He appeared to have swimming trunks on and was heading for the lake. Jay watched the boy do his version of a dive from a good 50 feet in the air. It had never struck Jay to actually try this and the idea seemed rather fun. He clapped in applause, a small smile creeping its way to his face.

Mariusz looked up in surprise and mild alarm at the sound of clapping. Who could possibly have been watching him? Everyone else was at school right now. Furtively, the winged and feathered mutant's eyes raked the shoreline of the lake, searching for the origins of the applause that was floating over the water. However, there was no one to be seen standing on either the shoreline of the lake or on the docks. Knowing that, of course, there was no possible way for the noise to be coming from underwater the Polish teen at last looked up in the sky.
There, floating in the sky at just a little bit higher than the height from which Mariusz had dove into the lake was another winged mutant. This made the feathered teen relax a little bit, even though the newcomer was not completely feathered or quite as avian in appearance as Mariusz was. Still, Mariusz did not recognize who the person was and he was wondering why the other boy was not at school with everyone else. Shrugging, the Polish teen surmised that the other boy must be new to the Mansion. It was, after all, the only logical explanation. "Hello, the water's fine," Mariusz called to the floating and winged figure.

"Hello, the water's fine," Icarus chuckled lightly at the fact that the boy immediatly looked everywhere but up. "Looks like it." Jay responded, flying down to be only about 15 feet above the waters surface. It wasn't like he was going to go in the water for any reason. Nevermind the fact that he was only in a pair of old jeans, but he didn't especially feel the need to be soaked to the bone. "I'm Jay." he said, smiling slightly at the other boy. Icarus almost felt sorry for him in a way, at least if Icarus could hide his wings, he could go out. This kid didn't have a snowballs chance in hell of going in public without people commenting(or screaming) at his appearance.

"Of course, where are my manners," Mariusz replied. "I'm Mariusz." As he'd been talking Mariusz had been swimming in the direction of the dock. Upon reaching the wooden structure the Polish teen hoisted himself onto the wooden dock and fluffed out his feathers, drying them so he could take to the skies again in preparation for another dive. Beating his wings a few times experimentally to see if his feathers were dry enough, Mariusz at last took to the air again. Mariusz didn't feel quite as uncomfrotable around Jay as he did around others since Jay was both obviously a mutant and he had wings like Mariusz did. "Why aren't you in school right now," Mariusz asked as he fluttered up to where Jay was.

"Why aren't you in school right now."
"I came too late in the quarter, not quite sure if I 'fit in' either." Jay said, looking back at his wings. He wasn't sure how he's explain his slight fear of being in public, mostly because the other participant of the conversion was worse off than Jay. "Plus, it's kinda nice to take a break from hanging out with the teenage populace of this city. I still need to get used to this place too." He said, motioning to the mansion. This Mariusz seemed like a cool kid, maybe worth getting to know better. "So...how long have you been here?" he asked, scratching at the area just above his scar on his chest. He jumped out the window without a shirt on, so covering the scar or trying to by staying cross armed would be ridiculous, if Mariusz really wanted to ask, he would and Jay would explain that he was hurt once and leave it at that.

"I'm not a big fan of crowds either," Mariusz replied as he floated there in the air, wings flapping once every so often to keep himself airborn. He guessed that the other teen's story made enough sense to be true. "I've been here since last August," Mariusz continued. "You sure you don't want to try out the water? It's really quite nice right at the moment," he said, eyeing the lake.

"You sure you don't want to try out the water? It's really quite nice right at the moment," "Yeah. I'm not er...much of a swimmer..." Jay replied reluctantly looking at the water. Truthfully he hadn't really been swimming since his accident with Julia. The thought of it was depressing him slightly. Even though he was 'over it', the pain would hit him at times when he didn't especially expect it. "I was actually writing a song when I saw you fly by my window, so I came out to see if you were that Warren guy I keep hearing about. I didn't know there was another winged person here besides himself and me..." he said, trying to offer a smile before speaking again "But ya know, 'birds of a feather flock together' I guess..." he said, chuckling lightly at his attempt to be funny.

"You're missing out," Mariusz replied, in reference to the water. In truth, the Polish teen wanted to make another couple of dives into the water before heading in and cleaning up. But, it would have been rude to go off and do that while in the middle of a conversation with someone else that he had just met. He chuckled lightly at the 'birds of a feather' remark, from most others Mariusz would have found it mildly offensive. But, given the winged nature of the speaker, he regarded it as nothing more than a play on words. "So, what do you do all day around here to keep yourself entertained," Mariusz asked, curious as to whether or not the other teen had discovered any other diversions around the Mansion.

Jay ignored that Mariusz said he was missing out on the water. Whats to miss out on? It's wet...that's it. "So, what do you do all day around here to keep yourself entertained,"
"I mostly stay close to the mansion, I write songs and play guitar alot, so I guess thats what takes up most of my time." he said, shrugging. Maybe it would be easier to talk to people if he just tried to be out going but Jay wasn't ready to be the social butterfly. He enjoyed his alone time and liked that he had so much time for music now. "I should kinda head back I guess...leave you to your diving and all." he said, flying around Mariusz to head back towards the mansion. He didn't wanto to keep Mariusz from his fun in the sun and it's not like Jay was the most interesting or energentic guy to talk to anyway.
