Name: Scott Summers
Code Name: Cyclops
Affiliation: X-Men
Age: 17
Height: 6’0
Weight: 180 lbs
Hair color: Auburn
Eye color: Brown
General Appearance: Scott Summers is a tall, athletic and slender looking guy. His brown hair is shortly cut on his hair, grown to maybe an inch and a half long. His glasses have a unique red lenses that is designed to contain the constant energy of his optic blasts. He usually sticks to dressing semi-casually, sweaters and slacks, t-shirts, dressing not only to impress but keep a practical comfort as well. As far as any distinguishing features, his glasses are a tell of who he is, aside from that he doesn’t really have any overly distinguishing features that tell him apart more easily from anyone else. He’s got a relatively average appearance. He is handsome but he doesn’t usually go out of his way to dress himself up.
Personality: Scott Summers is as enigmatic as people come, the man has many sides and thus tends to carry himself quite differently in different situations. As a field leader of the X-men he always carries himself well, he’s alert and he is always prepared and on top of the situations at hand. He usually shields any self-doubts or concerns that may be about with an aura of certainty and confidence because he knows he has to be the one they look up to when they are out on a mission. He’s a natural leader and can take control of any situation, he’s a natural when it comes to giving orders and issuing instructions.
His age and lack of experience, however, can cause him to plate a large amount of stress on himself that can become apparent at times. Scott likes to make sure everything is planned out when he is on a mission, often looking at any given scenario a few different ways to compensate for when things don’t go to plan, he’s selfless and courageous and would do anything for his friends and teammates. When things do not go to plan, he can find that he will look at his mistakes and analyze and over analyze his mistakes so that he doesn’t make the same mistakes twice. He holds personal responsibilities very close and if he makes a mistake sometimes he will take it very harshly upon himself.
Like when he’s on the field, he likes to present himself a certain way when he’s out with friends, cool, calm, confident. Scott Summers is in control of the situation. His close friends will learn behind that wall of leadership he’s pretty much like any other teenager. He’s friendly and kind, soft spoken when he needs to be. Scott can be quite hasteful to abandon a presented social situation that brings him a light air of awkwardness. And will blindly find any excuse on the top of his head to escape a situation he doesn’t like. Amidst of all of this, Scott is very dedicated to the X-Men and to Professor Xavier’s cause.
X-Factor: Scott Summers can project a concussive energy been from his eyes.
Power Details: Scott can project a beam of pure concussive force, pure solar energy, from his eyes. He does this by constantly absorbing out worldly energies and releasing those energies through his eyes in the form of energy blasts. His mind has a specific psionic field that is attuned to the forces that maintain what has taken place of his eyes. This field envelops his entire body; it allows him to be protected from the effects of his energy blasts. Even the thin membrane of his eyelids is sufficient to block the energy. The unique ruby quartz crystal that is used to make his eye glasses and his visor also does a similar affect. It allows him to see without constantly projecting the energy blasts his eyes create.
His mind has a specific psionic field that is attuned to the forces that he shoots from his eyes. The psionic field envelops his body causing other-dimensional particles back to their point of origin when they collide with his body. This protects his body from the effects of the particles and the blasts, even his eyelids are enough to block the emission of the energy. The ruby quartz lenses he wears in his glasses and in his combat visor do similarly without him having to close his eyes.
The width of the blast he projects is focused by the psionic field of his mind, in the same fashion that regulated the way he focused his eyesight before his powers manifested. When Scott focus’ the size of the aperture changes and acts as a valve controlling the flow of the blast, and the power of the beam. The height of the blast is controlled by the adjustable slit of his visor, his narrowest beam, about the diameter of a pencil can be shot at about a distance of 4 feet and has the concussive force of roughly 2 pounds. His broadest beam is about 90 feet across at a distance of 50 feet, and has the concussive force of about 500 pounds per square inch.
Cyclops's maximum force is sufficient to tip over a filled 5,000 gallon tank at a distance of 20 feet, or puncture a 1-inch carbon-steel plate at a distance of 2 feet.
Cyclops also possesses an uncanny sense of trigonometry, in this sense used to describe his observation of objects around himself and the angles found between surfaces of these objects. Cyclops has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to cause his optic blasts to ricochet and/or reflect off those objects in a trajectory to his liking. This is commonly called a "banked shot" when applied to this talent. Cyclops has been observed causing beams to reflect from over a dozen surfaces in the course of one blast, and still hit his intended target accurately. It is his sense of superhumanly enhanced spatial awareness that allows him to perform these feats as well.
Due to a minor brain injury, Scott lacks the ability to ‘turn off’ his powers. They are always on and he requires his eyeglasses or his visor made from the Ruby Quartz to prevent them from continuously blasting out.
General Skills: Scott summers is a naturally gifted tactician. His sense of spatial awareness grants him a quick thinking ability to change tactics during battle. His natural athletic ability has helped him pick up martial arts as well although he’s nowhere near being considered a master of the art he can defend himself adequately.
Brief History: ] Born to Christopher and Katherine Ann Summers, Scott’s life was struck by early tragedy. On a flight back from a family vacation in Anchorage, the tail of the plane caught damage due to an air attack, his parents selflessly gave Scott and his Brother the only parachute to get from the plane. The parachute was un-effective to slow their fall enough to prevent Scott to suffering minor brain damage from the landing.
Scott lost contact with his brother after the accident. Alex was adopted immediately where as Scott remained in medical care for a year before being sent to and growing up in an orphanage in Omaha, Nebraska. He lived there for most of his childhood, When his powers manifested at the age of fifteen he’d struck the oven with his blasts, causing a violent explosion that set much of the orphanage on fire. After the incident, Scott and the orphanage were contacted by one Charles Xavier, who was willing to take the young man into his care.
Charles Xavier helped teach Scott that he was a mutant, a human born with a particularly unique mutation to his DNA called the X-gene. In young Scott’s case, it allowed him the gift to shoot powerful energy beams from his eyes. Charles helped Scott by giving him both eyeglasses and a visor for him to wear that helps him properly utilize his mutant ability.
From this point on, Scott Summers has had a happy home in the Xavier mansion, and has adopted the code-name Cyclops and is looked at as the leader of Charles’ young group of mutants.
Sample Post: Stupid Duncan Matthews and his stupid charm, his dumb good looks, his stupid ability to make Jean swoon like a buffoon. Scott’s inability to do so had swept an obsession into his mind, what could he do? What options were available to him? Sitting in the kitchen, boredly stirring a bowl of oatmeal that sat in front of him, he was loudly blasting Linkin Park on his iPod. Singing along with ‘crawling’ briefly under his breath, the fire haired teen had gotten Scott infatuated, obsessed.
He saw no answers to his problems, this frustrated him.
Maybe if he baracaded himself into the Danger Room he’d forget about it, it wouldn’t bother him. That’s how it usually worked but Scott hoped that he’d run into Jean randomly, would he even feel brave enough to make a move? He had no idea…
Feeling like a loser, Scott ate his oatmeal and he sat silently. Quietly thinking about what he could do to show Jean Grey he was better than Duncan in every way, it shouldn’t be so difficult. Scott figured he looked good, he was smarter than Duncan, just as athletic. He was the leader of the X-Men! They were both mutants?! The more Scott thought about it, the less it made sense…
Standing up he groaned. “I’m going to the danger room…” he muttered to nobody in particular as he finished his oatmeal, he put the empty bowl by the sink and he walked from the kitchen.
