Name:Terilia "Terry" Marie Orbach
Code Name: Facade
Affiliation: X-men
Age:28
Height:5'7"
Weight:160
Hair color:brown
Eye color:green
General Appearance: With her caring and free, fun loving spirit, it's no wonder Terrys style is very bohemian looking. Flowing skirts that are light on the air and lowcut shirts that don't cling to her skin are normally what she wears, along with loose fitting pants, although she does wear jeans every-so-often. While at work or with a client, she does have a pin stripped womens business suit she will wear, complete with a Fedora-style hat.
Terry has a slim build, adding to her whimsical look. Her sandy brown hair falls past her shoulderblades in a wavy fashion, curling at the ends. She carries herself with a certain amount of confidence, many people find it admirable, others might find it slightly thingyy. Her eyes have a slight almond shape to them, the green/hazel color catching many people by surprise.
Personality: Terry almost always has a great smile across her face, rarely is she ever seen not smiling or even smirking. Terry loves acting and singing for people seeing as she grew up in the theatre, therefore, she loves being in big groups. For as much as she loves to be in big groups, she tries not to get too close to people, for fear of loosing them like she did her father.
In the large groups, she mostly sits back and watches the people, unless given the chance to act up or sing. Also very fun loving, she loves being outdoors. One of her favorite outdoor sports is Frisbee Golf but she doesn’t like competition or fighting. She will only play a sport when it’s for fun, and not for the sake of winning. In fighting she doesn’t have many offensive abilities, but is great at dodging.
X-Factor: Terry’s voice acts as an audio messenger to the hypothalamus of the brain causing visual/physical illusions.
Power Details: What Terry says, you see or feel. Sometimes she has to describe in detail what is happening and your mind would begin to do what she is describing. For example, if she were to describe in detail how you “are” drowning, your mind would begin to cut off air flow and slowly begin losing the air. Water would never enter your body at any moment, but your body would act as if there was. Eventually the mind would die and with mental death, comes physical death; if your brain is completely shut down, then all forms of life support are shut down as well.
Terry has the power to make someone think they are dying or in a crisis situation, but would never actually kill anyone unless severly prevoked, due to her morals. Again, by use of vivid details, she could even make you think you were in a different location. While using her powers, she feels a slight tickling sensation in her throat.
Power Weaknesses: Her powers are limited though(and at their full potential), in that she can’t force your emotions or personal opinions to change, only your physical feeling (i.e. sick or in pain) or what your mind sees. So if she was to be trying something on Logan, saying something like "You're on the battlefeild, surrounded, enemy troops everywhere, you're heart is racing and you feel scared.", while his heart would racing from adrenaline, she couldn't force the fear upon him. So in all, Terry can force your mind to make your body feel different but not your emotions.
Every time Terry uses her powers, after completing her speech to the person, she begins to feel very light headed, to the point where if she does a full out illusion (lots of detail) for 3 people (seperatly), she passes out for a good 15-20 minutes. It also requires more concentration and energy usage to put an illusion over more people. After putting a non detailed illusion over 20 people, she passes out, or after putting highly detailed (but not full out) illusion over 8 people, she passes out. The amount of time she is out is determined by how much detail was used. Also, about once every 3 months she loses her voice from power usage (the periods of time that she loses it become longer if she used her powers alot more than usual in the 3 months span.) The lost voice usually only last for 4 days.
General Skills: Growing up in the theatre, Terry has an amazing understanding of music, from tempo and proper notes to how to compose a small song. Along with all that she loved to sing and play guitar. She sticks to softer rock and such, that newer, more popular stuff being too loud and showy for her taste. More likely you'll find her playing a John Mayer song before she even touches a Panic at the disco song.
Brief History: Growing up in New York City, and daughter of a rising Broadway star made for a very good childhood for Terry. At age 20, Jacob Orbach was trying to make it onto broadway and met his soon to be wife, Michelle Taylor after saving her from being mugged on a New York City subway. Within a month they were already seriously involved but it all went down hill from there. Michelle found out that she was pregnant and she didn't want to be. When she told Jacob, he couldn't have been happier. He thought he would be getting his dream of a family and his career was picking up, so he could then support his family. Eventually in her pregnancy, Michelle attempted to stab herself and the baby inside. Jacob brought her to the hospital and after extensive test, they found a high amount of cocaine. After Terrys birth, her mother left the hospital and left Terry to her father. Thankfully, Jacobs carrer had taken off and he could support Terry and himself no problem.
Jacobs friend Sara who he had met through the theatre, helped to raise Terry by watching her on nights when Jacob had shows and bringing her to the rehersals. Sara was always there for Terry, and acted more as her mother than like a family friend. Her dads career was great, she had friends and a comfortable living, to Terry, it couldn't get any better and it wasn't going to. While sleeping at a friends house one night (now age 15), her freind was injured by a knife which had cut her upper arm deeply. Her freinds parents quickly drove Terry and her freind to the hospital. Once there, her father was called and told to pick Terry up from the hospital. When Terry retold what happened to her friend to Jacob, he glanced to his arm to see that it too was cut. He nearly swerved off the road from the sudden pain he felt and from shock. Terry screamed that he was okay and when he looked to his arm again, he saw that it was perfectly fine, and not cut at all.
By age 17, Terry understood what she was capable of and how to control it. Her father had been feeling sick lately and fainted in the middle of a rehearsal. After driving him to the hospital, they found her father had cancerous tumor in his lungs, and it was growing. Jacob knew of this, but hadn't told anyone. Terry convinced her father to try something, anything to help him. One night, after battling cancer for a year, Terry having turned 18 half a year prior, Jacob died in a hospital bed, Terry asleep by her fathers side. Terry never really got over her father death but went on through life, living it to the fullest. She knew all too well that life could be taken as quickly as it was given. Terry graduated from New York University with a degree in psychology. Terry wanted to help as many people as she could, mostly teenagers, dealing with difficult times like what she went through. Two months after her 26th Birthday, which Sara came to visit her for, she received another visit, from Charles Xavier.
He explained that he knew of her powers and thought that she could not only use some help, but also help some of his "gifted" students. Sara was slightly confused, but Xavier explained that Terry had powers and he would like to offer her a position as a teacher at his school for gifted youngsters. After talking things over with Sara, Sara being accepting of this new found information, they agreed that while Terry was gone, Sara would watch the house that Terry had inheirited from her father and been living at through out her college life and Terry would go help at Xaviers school, while also getting some help of her own. Terry never forgot her love for musical theatre and still tries to be in theatre troop productions when she can.
Sample Post: Terry walked down the hallways of the school, looking around for new rooms and faces. In the rec room she had seen no one, but it seemed like a fun place. The other rooms were nice, but it seemed all the students were at class or something. Terry decided to take a look out back. Opening up the french doors that lead to the patio, she gasped from the beauty. There were flowers, trees and a huge running area. "This is too perfect!" she exclaimed as she ran back inside up to her room, where she had left her bags.
She savagly opened her suitcase digging through various clothing items which were carelessly thrown around her room. "Yes!" she squealed as she pulled out her lucky orange frisbee. Sure, it was banged up and had a few battle scars on it, but it still worked and hadn't let her down yet. Terry ran back down and outside to the giant grassy opening in the backyard. She quickly ran to the farthest edge, right next to a tree as she threw the frisbee. It flew across the opening for a good 30 feet before landing softly on the ground. Terry ran up to it and continued her game of Frisbee until someone showed up.
