Name: Jean Grey
Code Name: None at the moment
Affiliation: X-men
Age: 17
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 135 lbs.
Hair color: Deep Red
Eye color: Emerald
General Appearance: Despite her not so Irish heritage Jean possesses the looks of your typical Irish lass, breathtaking red hair and sparkling green eyes. Her mother tells her she gets her looks from her father's mother. Her facial features are long and smooth almost angelic looking. She has a long yet not overpowering nose and thin yet alluring lips. Jean's appearance often comes across as classically beautiful.
Jean sports a lean and fairly muscular body structure. There is little to no fat visible on her body and although her limbs are long they don't appear lanky, the definition on them makes her look like she should be walking down the runway not racing around a soccer field. Her mid drift is slender and she'll occasional show it of. Jean has been told that she has the perfect stomach for a naval piercing but has kept her piercings restricted to her ears. Jean currently has one hole in each ear. She's often seen wearing golden studs or small hoops, anything not too large that matches her outfit.
Jean isn't obsessed with the way she looks but she does enjoy looking good. To match her appearance of classic beauty Jean tends to wear casual yet appealing outfits, comfortable yet stylish pants with a mix of tight fitting but not too revealing tops. When the weather warms up Jean likes wearing skirts and capris over dresses, she tends to save those for special occasions. Jeans attire and figure gets her noticed and led her to be dating the head jock of school but she doesn't let it go to her head. If asked Jean would probably say she's just average looking.
Personality: Jean likes to see herself as a well mannered self controlled young woman. She's does her best to always be polite and her disciplined yet friendly nature has led her to be the model student for the Xavier Institute. Jean isn't a very judgmental person, she's kind to everyone no matter who they are or where they come from. She does what she can to be friends with everyone which has led her to have several social groups within the Bayville area that she spends time with. Although most of her time is spent with the other students from the Institute Jean still has time for her other friends.
Jean often comes across as perfect. She looks good, she's a terrific student and a wonderful athlete. Mixed with her large array of friends and popular boyfriend Jean can often be the object of jealousy. Others have perceived her as being stuck up and rude. Jean ignores what they say. She believes she's kind and equally nice to everyone and those that bash her are more than likely unhappy with themselves.
Jean is a very dedicated person whether it be to her schoolwork, her athletics or to her friends she prides herself on pushing herself to her limits. It's been said that Jean is a perfectionist. She doesn't exactly disagree with this notion either, she feels everything should be done to the best of her abilities, there's no reason to do a half assed job on anything. Jean values her friends above everything else and would do anything for them, she would never betray a friend nor would she purposely sever a friendship.
Although Jean may appear to be the model student she has a mean streak. She does what she can to keep in control but she has been known to have a quick temper, something that often comes into play in the presence of her boyfriend Duncan Mathews and her best friend Scott Summers. Jean believes that women can do anything men can do and she hates being babied. She often reacts hostile towards men that think they are better than women or believe that women are the fairer sex.
X-Factor: Jean possesses an x-gene that has enhanced
the psychic center of the mind. It is said that humans only utilize ten percent of their brain, ever wonder what that other ninety percent does?
Power Details: Jean possesses two specific psychic abilities, telepathy and telekinesis.
Generic Telepathy; Jean is able to enter minds with her telepathy, communicate with anyone within a few miles radius, with the help of cerebro Jean can expand her range but comfortably she can communicate within one mile of herself, protect thoughts and images into someone's mind, create and erase memories as well as attack the mind in many different ways. Her attacks can be anywhere from turning off someone's cognitive thought to trapping them within their worst nightmare.
This ability however is not fully developed. Jean has the potential to be one of the most powerful telepaths in the world but her fear of her own powers has held her back. Although she has the potential to attack others with her mind as well as erase and manipulate their memories Jean finds it immoral to do so and has never fully explored her ability to do so. Jean's telepathy is closely linked to her emotions, the more stressed out she is the less control she has over her telepathy and will start hearing nearby thoughts unable to calm herself down enough to block them out.
Jean doesn't like to enter others minds without their permission. At the moment Jean only uses her telepathy for communication and to probe memories to see if someone is being truthful. Since she is afraid of this ability more so than her telekinesis Jean doesn't explore it much. Recently she has been using it to access Cerebro, learning to use the machine in baby steps but even this exploration of her power is something she feels nervous about.
Telekinesis; Easily the more powerful of her two abilities Jean has almost full control over this ability. With her telekinesis Jean is able to move objects with her mind. She is unaware of what her limits are with this ability but has been seen moving cars and heavy stone statues. Jean has even been able to use this ability to move immovable mutants such as the Blob or even Juggernaut. Jean often uses her telekinesis to help with chores around the mansion and in battle it is most utilized to allow her to fly. By bending her telekinesis she is able to project a force field like barrier to prevent herself and others from getting hurt.
Much like her telepathy Jean's telekinesis is linked to her emotions. It is less likely to flux as quickly as her telepathy due to her advanced training with this ability but she has still been known to shatter glass or shake rooms in times of extreme emotional stress.
Recently Jean experienced a massive power flux within her abilities that rendered her unconscious. With her mind somewhat dormant what is suspected to be her full potential surfaced and Jean was able to use her telekinesis to warp object on the molecular level. She was also able to level an entire floor of the mansion with highly concentrated psychic blasts. During this ordeal Jean created a psychic bond with her best friend Scott Summers that has proven to go beyond regular psychic connections. Although Jean has been unable to use her powers in such a way since, her full potential is now known to those closest to her.
General Skills: Jean is a very talented athlete. It doesn't matter what sport it is she can excel at it. She has won awards in Soccer, baseball, basketball and even a few for track and field. Jean is easily the best female athlete Bayville High has to offer.
Brief History:
Dr. John Grey and his wife Elaine gave birth to their second daughter, four years after their first daughter Sara, seventeen years ago. Naming her Jean the Grey's had a feeling their daughter would be somehow important to the world. They shrugged it off as just being proud parents but as she grew it was obvious that Jean was an exceptional child.
Evident from a young age Jean was a fast learner. She learned to walk talk and read before her sister had (when she was first learning) She was a very curious child and never caused much trouble. Jean was well liked by her peers and her teachers. Jean never came home with a negative mark on her report cards, her teachers praised how well behaved and how smart she was. Even though Jean was obviously smart her love for the outdoors and anything physical kept her from being picked on at school. She was very friendly and developed a core group of friends early on.
Jean performed well in school in both academics and athletics. Although her sister was somewhat jealous of her success and the attention that their parents gave her she still loved Jean and the two developed a strong sisterly bond that they still hold to this day. The seemingly perfect girl had only one flaw, she was quick to get angry whenever someone told her she couldn't do something because she was just a girl.
In the second grade Jean met a young girl named Annie Richardson. Annie liked sports as much as Jean did and the two became close friends, they even joined the local junior soccer team together the following year. Jean seemed like your average every day little girl. She was smart, athletic and healthy. She got along with her parents and her sister and was rarely in trouble.
The only problem she seemed to have was a strange fear of fire which led to night terrors about everything around her burning. The Grey's concerned, sent her to a couple of doctors but they said nothing was wrong with her. A fear of fire was nothing to be worried about and night terrors would pass in time. As she got older Jean was still afraid of fire but the night terrors became less and less frequent.
At the age of ten Jean and Annie were walking home from school together. As they were crossing the street a car speeding past lost control, Jean was able to jump out of the way but Annie was much less fortunate. The girl was hit by the car head on and lay in the street bloody and dying. The speeding car drove off either unaware or afraid of what had just happened. Jean raced to her friend's side trying to help her. She screamed for help catching the attention of her neighbours. As Annie lay dying in her arms Jean's mutant abilities manifested and she experienced all of Annie's dying thoughts and emotions. The event as traumatic as it already was sent Jean over the edge and while an ambulance was on it's way the frightened ten year old let out a scream that seemed to be so powerful all the glass windows of the nearby houses shattered. (Her budding telekinesis)
After Annie's funeral Jean became very withdrawn. She refused to go outside and play, refused to see any of her other friends, even refused to talk to her sister. Assuming the event had just severely traumatized the girl her parents never thought to ask what was wrong. Jean spent most of her time in her room. Ever since Annie's death Jean had be unable to block out the thoughts of those around her and whenever she had nightmares she woke up to the objects in her room shaking.
Deeply concerned the Grey's sent their daughter to doctor after doctor. None of them seemed to be able to connect with the girl and she only seemed to be getting worse. She was still a good student and still attended soccer practice but she didn't talk to others and came home straight after school and locked herself in her room. After almost a year of taking her to multiple psychiatrist they were referred to a man John had heard of through his teaching position at the nearby university. The man's name was Charles Xavier and he had an uncanny ability to know exactly what was wrong with someone. Convinced that this was their last hope the Grey's took Jean to see Xavier.
Almost as soon as Jean was in Xavier's presence she began to lighten up and relax. In their private sessions Charles explained to Jean what she truly was and what was happening to her. After a year of sessions with Xavier Jean seemed to be back to her normal self. Xavier had put a few mental blocks in place to help her keep the voices out and each session the two secretly worked on Jean's budding abilities.
As Jean was ready to enter Junior High the Grey's couldn't have been happier about her recovery. She was back to her old self and was even able to regain all the friendships she had pushed away. Over the following years Jean saw Xavier once a month to check up on things and went about life as a normal teenage girl. In junior high she started to win awards for her efforts on the schools sports teams and with puberty on it's way she was starting to gain the attention of the boys around her. However her parents had a strict rule that she wasn't allowed to date until she was sixteen.
Everything seemed to be perfect once again for Jean Grey. Unfortunately life doesn't let perfection last long. Not long after her fourteenth birthday Jean started to have night terrors again, dreams of death, destruction and fire. The distress of the night terrors caused the mental blocks within Jean to break and she lost control of her abilities. The Grey were terrified when they found her. Everything in her room was spinning around her as she screamed out nonsense phrases, the most common being "Get out of my Head!"
Frightened for and of their daughter Jean was brought back to Charles Xavier. Xavier sat Jean's parents down and explained to them what was happening. He explained that Jean was part of the human race that was evolving, he apologized for not telling them sooner and offered to once again help her. By this time he had established a school to help troubled teenagers like Jean cope with their growing abilities. Afraid of her abilities and what she had done to her bedroom her parents eagerly accepted Xavier's offer to let her live at the school free of charge.
Now a student at the Institute Jean worked with Xavier to once again gain control over her abilities. She had requested to have Xavier put the blocks back in and help her with her night terrors. At the time there was only Jean and one other student at the Institute. A boy named Scott Summers who could make a beam so powerful come out of his eyes that he had to wear special glasses to keep from hurting people. Jean and Scott grew to be close friends in a short amount of time and to begin with Jean viewed him as the brother she never had.
With her powers in control her parents started to visit on special occasions like holidays and birthdays. Jean enjoyed living at the Institute and was glad that she was able to attend public school. Once again Jean was the model student and didn't waste anytime making friends. She even began dating the most popular guy in school.
As the years past more students started to flow into the Institute. Since Jean and Scott had been there the longest they were instantly perceived as the leaders and the model students that Xavier's Institute had to offer. Jean was often used to help recruit new students which helped her develop friendships with them that much faster. She enjoys being a leader to the younger students and likes making everyone feel like they belong.
Recently Jean experienced a flux in her powers that showed her full potential and caused quite a lot of destruction to the mansion. During the ordeal Jean developed a special psychic bond with her best friend Scott and during her recovery Jean started to see him as something more than just her best friend. Unaware of how he feels about her Jean has kept her feelings to herself and continues to casually date Duncan Mathews despite Scott's obvious dislike of him.
