Kitty felt bad for Mariusz. Monet was a complete expletive to him, rude and completely out of line. That beyond the fact that he'd completely abandoned the cake meant that she felt horrible about that. She had to redeem it and she had finished the cake. Decorated with a vanilla icing on top and a strawberry-vanilla icing layering the edges and the sides.
On a plate, Kitty had three large pieces of cakee that comprised half of the cake, and on another plate, Kitty had the piece she'd cut away for herself. As she wandered up to the attic she was kind of nervous, she didn't know Mariusz, she wanted to cheer him up. He just hoped she wouldn't mind that she finished his cake. She was sure he wouldn't.
"Knock knock!" she called out as she slowly opened his door, causing a dull creak. what welcomed her was surprising. His room was modest size, it wasn't cramped but it was much much smaller than the room she shared with Rogue. "I brought you some of your cake... I finished it, I hope you don't mind. I'm sorry for what Monet said, she's... I don't know, a whole different kind of person. She wouldn't apologize to you for what she said so I'm doing it for her."
She said as she slowly entered his room, "And besides... who can be sad when cake is in the equation right? Cake is so righteous!"

Mariusz looked up from what he'd been doing, namely moping in his room and listening to Beethoven, when the door opened up and Kitty entered carrying two plates with some of the cake he'd worked all day to make. He saw that someone, likely Kitty, had gone ahead and iced the cake which was perfectly alright with the Polish teen. He'd been meaning to do that before Monet's comments had sliced into him and he'd retreated to his room. He regarded Kitty with unblinking eyes as she entered his room and hugged his knees a little tighter to his chest. He knew she didn't like him any more than the others did, or at least that she didn't seem to, though it never really occured to him that most of the others didn't know him because he was constantly hibernating in his room. She probably just felt guilty, people usually only did things like this for people that weren't their friends when they felt guilty. Still, the avian mutant was too nice to tell Kitty to just go away, even though he did pull the quilt around his shoulders a little bit tighter.
"I don't mind you finishing it, and I'm glad you like my cooking. It's the only thing people in this place seem to like about me," Mariusz said mopily as the attractive girl entered his room. "Please, find a place to sit if you want to... not that there's many choices in here." Mariusz scrunche himself up into the corner where the head of his bed met the wall, leaving as much room as was possible on the bed for Kitty to seat herself, since it was the only real place in the room to sit as he'd taken the chair from his desk and put it out in the attic. He didn't want her to feel like he was crowding her, but likewise it was his room and he was on the bed first and it was his bed and he didn't want to move off of it right at the moment. "But you don't have to stay if you don't want to. I understand, really."

Kitty had no idea how Mariusz felt. He probably felt like an outcast, maybe he even resented her for coming up here. But as she placed the cake near him, she sat cross legged on the opposite corner of the bed and dug into her cake. "Its very good." she said with a smile after eating a piece.
Looking at Mariusz she felt conflicted, she couldn't possibly imagine how he felt, he was sure that Monet had done nothing to help it, but Kitty was powerless to prove anything to Mariusz. "I'm going to speak very candidly for a moment. Okay, and I apologize... in advance, but Monet is a -expletive- and she's not worth the shoes she walks in. They... probably cost more than my entire wardrobe."
"Anyway, my point is..." Kitty said as she felt kind of nervous, eating another peice. "I dont want to feel weird around you, because I think you resent me okay? We're cool. Alright?" she said with a smile. "I cant promice you'll be king of the castle or anything but if people see that we're friend around here. Nobody's going to pick on you."
She ate another bite, feeling confident of her vision. "I'll stand up for you too..." she said with a full mouth, a moment void of elegance. "I mean, I just dont think that you should feel isolated." Kitty said with a smile. "We're all facing similar challenges here, some more complex than others but we all have some very strong common ground. You will run into students like Monet, you need to shrug them off because they're ignorant."

Mariusz smiled weakly when Kitty spoke about Monet, it did make him feel a little bit better to know that there was someone else in the Mansion that didn't much care for Monet, especially someone that looked like Kitty did, being not only normal looking but also rather on the cute side. Not that Mariusz thought he had a snow ball's chance in hell with her, but still. A bit timidly, he reached out for the plate Kitty had set near him and slowly uncurled into a more normal sitting position as he took a bite of his, and Kitty's, confectionary creation. 'Not bad at all,' he thought to himself. The cake tasted good, though perhaps in the future a bit more brown sugar and a bit less white would be advisable.
As the avian mutant continued to eat his cake in silence as Kitty spoke, waiting for a chance to respond. "I never resented you," the Polish teen began, after swallowing his bite of cake. "But I always got the feeling you resented me because of how I look and because I act different. You think I like being alone all the time? I want friends, I do, but I don't know how to... well... really make them. Big groups of new people scare me." Mariusz took another bite of the cake before continuing to speak again. "And she may be ignorant, as you say, but most of the students seem to prefer her company to mine."

"Believe me when I say that nobody prefers Monet's company to anyone." Kitty said with a small smile. When Mariusz spoke, it was clear that Kitty truly didn't understand where he was coming from and that she couldn't really relate anyway. That made what she was trying to do difficult, but it wasn't usually easy to cheer people up. "I mean, if you're worried about not having any friends let me tell you something. You're not going to make any friends sitting up here and moping about it all day."
Kitty took a bite of her cake, roughly half-done her peice before she looked to him. "If people aren't used to seeing you around. People aren't going to get used to it. I can't promice that some people wont say things that are mean. But I can promise that before you know it, It'll be like you're part of the family around here."

"I don't mope up here all day," the Polish teen said, a bit defensively. It was true, too. When the rest of the Mansion was away at Bayville High Mariusz had a fine time wandering the Mansion and enjoying being able to go anywhere he pleased on the grounds. Of course, once everyone got back from school that was an entirely different story. Mariusz simply didn't feel comfortable around his fellow teens, especially when he was the only one really running around the Mansion that had a significant physical mutation and everyone else looked not only normal but on the good side of normal.
"I don't stay up here all day... just when everyone else is around," Mariusz finished a bit sheepishly. The cake on his plate had disappeared and he set the empty plate on the nightstand next to the lamp that was there also. Tucking his wings tight to his body the avian mutant stretched his arms above his head and, being careful not to touch Kitty or gouge his bed with his talons, fell sideways on his bed to lie on his back, looking up at Kitty and the celing alternatively as he smoothed down the feathers on his chest.

"Thats my point." Kitty said looking to him with a smile. "We're not afraid of you, and we're not going to make fun of you or anything like that. Monet, she's a rare example. I cant promise that everyone is going to be civil but this just isn't that kind of place." She said very seriously.
"We're all mutants, Mariusz. We're all dealing with something that the general public cannot accept. Any one of us are just as vulnreble as you." she said looking at him. "I dont have a physical mutation. I'm just really rambling on about this and I don't want you to feel isolated." She looked to him. "So can I make you a deal?"

Mariusz looked up at Kitty from his laying position on the bed. It was much more difficult to make eye contact when he was lying on his back like this than it would have been had he been sitting up on his bed. He found himself agreeing, mostly, with what Kitty was saying about all of them who were living in the Mansion being mutants. However, he was still the only one currently living in the Mansion that had a significant physical mutation that would prevent him from ever being able to interact in public in the same way as his housemates could since they could blend in better. "What kind of deal are you talking about," Mariusz asked, a bit uncertainly as he lay there on his bed.

"I know you're the only person, right now who has a blatant physical mutation as you do..." Kitty said, thinking about it as she spoke very un lady like with a mouth full of cake. Swallowing, she continued.
"But, when we do, and I do mean when, You should agree to be roommates with him... if its a him, if its a her well we don't really do co-ed bunking..." Kitty said asshe was trying valiantly, and failing, to make Mariusz a little more at ease about all of this...
"But I also want you to try and socialize a little more. Monet was a horrible example, but nobody else around here will treat you like she did. I can promise you that."

"No," Mariusz said definitively. There was no way he was going to share a room with anyone. Just one more person to judge him. One more person that he would have to be constantly trying to impress so that they wouldn't hate him. Well, thanks but no thanks on that one. "I don't want a roomate. Just one more person I always have to be trying to impress so they don't hate me." He was continuing to lay on his bed looking up alternately at the celing when Kitty was speaking and at Kitty when he was speaking to her.
"And why should I come out and try to be more social? No one ever tries to be social with me when I am around them," the Polish teen continued. "Look around, I'm not exactly into the things that everyone else would consider to be 'cool'." Mariusz held up two taloned fingers from each of his hands to make quotation marks when he said the word 'cool'. "I like what I like and I don't want to change just so I can fit in. You know, in all the time I've been here you're the only one that's ever been up here to visit me? The only other time anyone has been up here is when I was shown that this would be my room."
