Name: Jonathan 'Jack' Alexis
Code Name: Camo
Affiliation: Brotherhood
Age: 18
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 115 lbs.
Hair color: Naturally Dark Brown, varies due to mutation
Eye color: Naturally Hazel, varies due to mutation
General Appearance: Jack is not your typical looking teenager. He has a small thin figure that boarders on bony. He's not tall, coming from an all around short family but he doesn't let it get him down. His frame is definitely a slender one no sign of excess fat or muscle although he's in fairly good shape for a man his age.
Jack's naturally dark brown hair is cut short and Jack generally sports a goatie or a full on beard. Due to his mutation his hair often changes colour depending on his mood. More often than not it's seen as bright red symbolizing his anger or pitch black indicating his sense of loss and helplessness.
Jack's wardrobe isn't extensive in any sense. He generally wears baggy t shirts and jeans, anything that doesn't enhance how tiny he is. He often keeps to plain and ordinary looking clothing, if he really wants to spice things up he can use his mutant abilities to change the colours and patterns of his clothes making any ordinary old outfit look brand new and exciting.
Personality: Despite his circumstances Jack is usually a very happy go lucky person. His biggest joy in life is seeing others laugh. He will personally go out of his way to make someone feel better. He prides himself on his little talents that provoke smiles and giggled. He uses his mask as an entertainer to hide his true feelings. Although he is more often happy on his own, it's hard to ignore what has happened to him recently and so focusing on making others happy usually helps him feel happy himself.
However there's a side of Jack's personality that has been getting stronger over the last few months. Fueled by anger and the thirst for revenge his rage has been getting stronger and stronger slowly replacing his usual happy go lucky self. Jack feels lost and helpless and above all guilty about his father's death. He has a sense of revenge that is sometimes overwhelming and is slowly becoming his main focus in life.
For Jack, friendship is one of the most important things in his life. His friends make him feel at home more than anyone else. They make him feel comfortable in his skin and distract him from his own self doubts about his height and size. Without his friends Jack feels even more lost and helpless. Luckily he's usually very good at making friends and hopes to make some quick since he's moved.
X-Factor: Jack possesses the ability to alter the pigment in molecules allowing him to change the colour of something. He is able to change colours in two ways. He can change the colour of his own molecules or the colour of molecules he comes in skin to skin contact with.
Power Details:
Personal Manipulation; Jack has the ability to change the colour of any molecule in his body. He can do something as simple as change his eye colour or something as complex as matching the pigment in his entire body to blend in with a brick wall. Jack is able to copy any pattern that he has seen or come in contact with. He can blend into anything he is near making him virtually invisible against objects. He is also able to change the colour at every angle so that he could actually become invisible in the middle of a room.
Object Manipulation; Although this is not as developed as his other ability he can change the colour of anything he touches including other people. However he cannot duplicate patterns or pictures when it comes to touching something else. He cannot camouflage someone into a brick wall with him, not having the ability to duplicate something that complex on someone else. The effect wears off as soon as Jack breaks his skin to skin contact with the object or person he is touching.
Possible Advancements: It is possible that Jack's object manipulation will get as powerful as his personal manipulation and he'll be able to duplicate patterns and pictures on other people and objects.
Weaknesses: Jack's powers offer him no offensive abilities leaving him vulnerable to physical and mental attacks. Although he has the ability of stealth his powers don't provide him with much else. Jack's powers are tightly tied with his emotions and so he often ends up revealing he's a mutant without meaning to. This often shows itself with his hair turning colour in accordance with his mood, in example when he's angry his hair often turns red and when he's sad it often turns dark blue or pitch black.
When Jack is using his object manipulation he needs complete concentration to keep up the camouflage. Once his concentration is broken the object he was manipulating goes back to normal. The object will also lose its manipulated colour as soon as Jack breaks his skin to skin contact with it. When he's touching a person he has to touch their skin in order to camouflage them, but with an object he can just touch wherever he wants.
General Skills: Jack has a natural knack for making people laugh. He's also very talented when it comes to playing the bass guitar.
Brief History: Jack's parents met while they were in college through a mutual friend. After three years of dating they married and settled into a small apartment in Amber's current city of residence of Bayville. A year into the marriage they discovered that Amber was pregnant. Unfortunately many complications arose during the pregnancy including a two week period a month before the due date where the doctors began preparing Amber to have a still born for they believed the child to be dead. The Alexis's were devastated but at the end of two weeks while listening to an assortment of classic music Amber felt the baby kick. It was still alive.
The baby was born November 18th. They named him Jonathan Alexis. Unfortunately the labor was too stressful on Amber whom already had a poor heart. Not long after giving birth she died of a cardiac arrest. Jacob took the child home to an empty apartment not long after.
He made arrangements with his employer to have his office moved into the apartment so that he could work at home in order to take care of his son. The death of his wife was a hard blow and he barely considered ever being able to date again. If it hadn't been for his bubbling little baby boy Jacob probably would have drown his sorrows in as much alcohol as he could find but he felt he owed it to Amber's memory to be a good father.
Jacob raised Jonathan, whom he nick named Jack after the french version of John (Amber's background was french), to the best of his ability. Despite the lack of a mother Jack grew up like any other kid. However Jacob didn't really know anything about raising a kid, Amber had been the one reading all the pregnancy and parenting books. He ran into many bumps early on but figured he was doing the best he could in raising the little one.
Jacob and Jack lived in happiness. Jack's father was his best friend. He attended Bayville Public school and was a good student learning to write and read at a faster pace than his peers. However it became obvious to his teachers that Jack was having problems paying attention and forming sentences. Jacob took him to a doctor to make sure there was nothing wrong with him. Not even the doctor was expecting what he found. Somehow Jack had the ability to speak and communicate despite the fact that he was born seventy five percent deaf.
With the new discovery Jacob scheduled Jack to go into surgery as soon as possible. Although frightening, Jack went through with the surgery done on his ears. For the following weeks after Jack often complained about loud noises and headaches. He was then placed in speech therapy on weekends to help him develop his words clearly.
The next complication came when it was discovered the following year that Jack had an astigmatism. He needed glasses. After getting glasses and continuing speech therapy Jack began doing much better in school and had a multitude of friends. He discovered that he was funny and began thriving on making others laugh.
Throughout elementary school Jack was fairly popular. He had many friends and was well known among the teachers at Bayville. He was able to work through school with little complications. That was until puberty started to hit his friends. Jack was afraid he'd never hit puberty and would stay a tiny little thing forever. Jack was teased for being so short and skinny which were hard blows but the friends he had helped him through it.
In Junior High School the teasing stopped. Other guys weren't experiencing rapid puberty either and Jack made friends with a few that were around the same height as him as well. Jack began to find himself popular in whole new ways. He found that girls liked funny guys and he could not only make his guy friends laugh but he was making pretty girls laugh as well. However he was still more interested in being friends with girls than having them as girlfriend's like his friends did.
Life wasn't always happy for the duo. When Jack entered High School Jacob decided it was time to move on with his life and started dating again. Jack had never had to worry about sharing his Dad with anyone and found the women his father dated to be nothing more than attractive idiots. The two found themselves fighting alot over the issue and Jack started to spend more time at his friends houses to get away from the large array of women his father was dating.
Spending more and more time with his friends meant that Jack was starting to find less and less time to do his homework and his marks at school started to drop. By the time the school year was over Jack had failed three of his classes and had to make up the credits in summer school. Angry that he was forced to go to summer school and somewhat angry with himself that he had slacked off so much Jack had a little rage tantrum in his room. When he was done throwing things around and punching a few holes in the wall he glanced at the mirror, his hair and beard had turned flaming red. Staring at his reflection rather confused he watched his hair turn from flaming red to bright green, to a deep yellow and back to his natural dark brown.
With his curiousity peaked Jack started to experiment with his new found powers while doing much better in summer school then he had been doing in his last semester. Since his father was against guys dying their hair he found a new way to rebel without sacrificing his grades. As he went further through High School and still being on the outs with his father Jack found more activities to participate in after school so he didn't have to go home and face his father's newest flavour of the week. He started getting very involved in different drama clubs and even started a band with a couple of his friends.
In his final year of High School his father started to see a woman who had a daughter the same age as Jack. Finding a new way to get back at his father Jack started to date his girlfriends daughter. At first it was just a way to piss off his father but he started to actually feel for her. With Jack and his girlfriend Tara getting closer Jacob and his own girlfriend Julie were starting to fall apart and even after they broke up Jack continued to date Tara. The two started to get serious and Jack even started to mend the relationship with his father, things seemed to be looking up for Jack.
Unfortunately a week before prom Jack discovered that Tara was part of a radical Anti mutant group. He was so furious when he found out that he ended up indirectly exposing himself as a mutant to her. She was so horrified and disgusted she broke up with him on the spot and ran back to her radical friends letting them know that Jack was a mutant. Furious with Tara's reaction and how easily she left him Jack wandered around the town trying to find ways to let out his frustration. When he got back home he found his apartment broken into. The place was trashed and as he made it further inside he found his father severely beaten in his bedroom. He called 911 but it was too late, his father died on his way to the hospital.
The next few days went by in a sort of daze for Jack, he couldn't feel anything other than a flip flop of overwhelming hopelessness and indescribable rage. Once he was no longer a part of the investigation into his father's murder Jack began wandering around trying to find anything to quench his rage. Eventually Jack ran into a group of young mutants who also had issues with the world and the strange twists of fate they had been dealt. He started to stay with them and found parts of his old self coming back but he still had a strong taste for revenge for what had happened to his father.
